Telegram and WhatsApp in one app

Friends on Telegram, family on WhatsApp: you don’t have to keep two apps open. Omut is a unified messenger app for iPhone, iPad and Mac that puts both in one place, next to its own chat.

What Omut is

Omut is an independent messenger with Telegram and WhatsApp built in. Telegram and WhatsApp open as tabs in one app, next to Omut’s own chats. You get one list of conversations, one set of notifications and one account across iPhone, iPad and Mac.

It is not an official Telegram or WhatsApp app, and it is not affiliated with Telegram Messenger Inc. or WhatsApp LLC.

How Telegram and WhatsApp end up in the same app

  • Telegram connects through its open API, the same way other third-party Telegram clients do. You sign in with your Telegram account, and several accounts can live side by side.
  • WhatsApp connects as a linked device, like WhatsApp on a computer: Omut shows a code, and you confirm it in WhatsApp on your phone. Before you enter your number, Omut tells you about the risk to it.
  • Omut chats are for people who already use Omut, including secret chats with end-to-end encryption.

WhatsApp and Telegram in the same app on iPhone

On an iPhone, Omut gives you both messengers without switching apps. What already works in the beta:

  • Multiple Telegram accounts, folders, pins and search across chats.
  • Reactions, edits and deletes; voice messages and video notes; photos, files and forwarding.
  • Push notifications on the lock screen, even when the app is closed.
  • WhatsApp chats, voice messages and photos in the neighbouring tab.
  • New in the beta: long voice messages summarized by Claude, Anthropic’s AI model.

The app is in English and Russian and follows your phone’s language. Android and a web version come after iOS, on the same account.

The honest part

For push notifications to reach you with the app closed, your Telegram session lives on Omut’s server, not only on the phone. Technically that makes reading possible. We don’t read your chats, and we don’t write message text to logs — not in debug, not in errors. Media is kept only as long as it takes to hand you the file. More on the home page.
