Omut is a native Mac app for Telegram that also brings in WhatsApp and Omut’s own chats. It uses the same account as Omut on your iPhone and iPad, and the beta is free.

Why another Telegram app for Mac?

If Telegram is the only messenger you use, the official app is a fine choice. Omut is for people whose conversations are split: some on Telegram, some on WhatsApp. On a Mac, that usually means two windows and two sets of notifications. Omut puts them in one.

What you get on the Mac

  • Telegram through its open API, like other third-party clients, with several accounts side by side.
  • WhatsApp as a linked device, in the neighbouring tab.
  • Omut chats, including secret chats with end-to-end encryption.
  • One account on Mac, iPhone and iPad: sign in with Telegram, Apple or a login and password. No SMS.
  • AI voice summaries powered by Claude, new in the beta: read the gist of a long voice message instead of playing it.

Omut is written in Swift as a native app, with a backend written in Rust. It is an independent app and is not affiliated with Telegram Messenger Inc. or WhatsApp LLC.

System requirements

  • Omut for Mac: macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
  • TestFlight for Mac, Apple’s app for beta builds: macOS 12 or later.

Install in 30 seconds

iPhone and iPad (iOS 17 or later)

  1. Install TestFlight from the App Store. It is Apple's own app for beta builds.
  2. Open the Omut beta link on the same device.
  3. Tap Accept, then Install. Omut appears on your Home Screen.

Mac (macOS 14 Sonoma or later)

  1. Install TestFlight for Mac from the Mac App Store (macOS 12 or later).
  2. Open the same beta link in a browser on your Mac and click “View in TestFlight”.
  3. Accept, then Install. Omut appears in Applications.

Questions

Is there a Telegram client for Mac that also shows WhatsApp?

Yes. Omut shows Telegram and WhatsApp in one window on the Mac, next to its own messenger. The same account works on iPhone and iPad.

How do I install Omut on a Mac?

Install TestFlight for Mac from the Mac App Store, then open the Omut beta link https://testflight.apple.com/join/nWHdP7Hh in a browser on your Mac and click View in TestFlight. Accept, then Install.

TestFlight on my Mac does not show the build. What now?

The Mac build goes through Apple’s beta review separately from the iPhone build, so it can appear a little later. Try the link again later, or write to [email protected].

Is Omut an official Telegram app?

No. Omut is an independent app that connects to Telegram through its open API, the same way other third-party clients do.

How much does it cost?

The beta is free. After the beta, Omut costs $3.99 a month for everything, with the first 14 days free.
